Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Damage to agriculture due to flooding spawned by heavy rain in this city on Tuesday was recorded at around P10 million.

City agriculturist Carmencita Sanchez said nine low-lying barangays were inundated, with 583.95 hectares of agricultural land and 697 farmers affected.

She said fisheries accounted for P6.1 million of the damage followed by rice, corn and high-value crops.

The city government has yet to assess the damage to infrastructure, including bridges and slope protection.
