2 teens dead in lightning strikes

MANILA, Philippines — Two teenagers died when lightning struck in Bulacan and Pangasinan on Sunday.

Reniel Buela, 17, was swimming with his relatives in Bustos Dam’s Ecopark when a thunderstorm occurred at past 2 p.m., reports reaching Col. Charlie Cabadrilla, acting Bulacan police director, showed.

Buela was declared dead on arrival at the Bustos Community Hospital.

In Pangasinan, Joana Domantay, 15, was bathing in the rain outside their house in Sitio Taew, Barangay Cobol in San Carlos City when lightning struck.

Domantay’s sister Joyce, 8, was brought to the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital for treatment. – Eva Visperas
