Car rams acacia tree in Ilocos Sur; 2 dead

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Two persons died when their car rammed an acacia tree along the highway in Barangay Gongogong in San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur before 5 a.m. yesterday.

Floresto Tulali, 40, a resident of Barangay Magnuang in Batac, Ilocos Norte, and Federico Pascual, 29, of Barangay Gongogong died at the scene. Khimberly Estabillo, 26, also from Batac, was injured.

Police said the car driven by Tulali was heading north when the accident occurred.

Rescuers had a hard time extracting the victims as the vehicle was a total wreck.

Probers are looking into reports that the passengers were drunk.
