2 dead, 3 hurt in Sulu dynamite blast

CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao – Two persons died when an improvised dynamite exploded in Panglima Estino, Sulu on Thursday.

Brig. Gen. Arthur Cabalona, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao police chief, said two other persons, including a child, were wounded and taken to a hospital for treatment.

Cabalona said the victims were in the house of Baruli Abdurasid, who keeps improvised dynamite, when the explosion occurred. Abdurasid was arrested.

The use of dynamite for fishing has long been outlawed because it destroys coral reefs and marine resources.
