Bebot Sison Jr., Ric Sapnu - The Philippine Star

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Philippines — In a bid to strengthen maritime security capabilities at this freeport, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) has acquired two new patrol boats.

BOC district collector Maritess Martin said the 12.7-meter boats, which would be used in patrol and water pursuit in the country’s borders, would also be deployed to foil smuggling and other fraudulent activities.

The two boats will be used in joint operations of the Philippine Coast Guard and the BOC Port of Subic in suppressing smuggling activities as well as in Customs-related operations.

“The Port of Subic is excited and privileged to be given the opportunity to continue our service not only through the collection of lawful revenue, but also by patroling our waters and preventing smuggling,” Martin said.
