1 dead as SUV plunges into Mountain Province ravine

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A sport utility vehicle fell into a ravine after crashing into another vehicle along the national road in Barangay Bayyo, Bontoc, Mountain Province on Friday, leaving one person dead.

Charity Vicente, 54, a resident of Silang, Cavite was declared dead on arrival in a hospital, where her companions remained confined yesterday.

Police said the victims were in a Mitsubishi Montero driven by Hector Araña, 64, on their way to Sagada when the vehicle collided with a Toyota Tamaraw in the opposite lane along the Bontoc-Ifugao road.

The SUV fell into a 60-meter ravine due to the impact of the crash.
