Cop killed, 4 suspects held in Zamboanga del Sur shootout

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A policeman was killed and another was wounded in a shootout with motorcycle-riding men in Sominot, Zamboanga del Sur on Tuesday.

Provincial police director Col. Diomarie Albarico identified the slain policeman as S/Sgt. Khalid Jade Dacula and the wounded as S/Sgt. Ronal Banagbanag.

The two policemen were with an eight-member team who responded to the reported sighting of armed men in Barangays Carmen and New Oroquieta.

Two of the four suspects who were arrested in follow-up operations were also wounded. Among them is Rogelio Cabasan, 52, village watchman of New Oroquieta.
