San Juan, Mandaluyong bets attend mass ahead of campaign

Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Candidates for local posts in San Juan and Mandaluyong started the campaign period yesterday by attending mass.

San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora, Vice Mayor Warren Villa and their team attended a thanksgiving mass at the Sanctuario del Santo Cristo in Barangay Kabayanan.

After the mass, Zamora’s team held a unity walk from the church to the FilOil Arena, where their proclamation rally was held.

In Mandaluyong, mayoral candidate Benjamin Abalos attended a thanksgiving mass with his daughter-in-law outgoing Mayor Menchie Abalos, reelectionist Rep. Neptali Gonzales II and his wife Queenie at the San Felipe Neri Church before going on a motorcade.

Abalos earlier said that he ran for mayor of Mandaluyong to fulfill his promise to his wife, who died of COVID-19 complications in January 2021.
