2 South Korean fugitives held in Pampanga

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Two South Korean fugitives were arrested in Mabalacat, Pampanga recently, Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente reported yesterday.

Lee Don-ju, 39, and Sim Kyu-chul, 40, were apprehended at a hotel at the Clark Freeport, Morente said.

“We will deport them for being undesirable and overstaying aliens. Their passports were canceled by the Korean government, which also made them undocumented,” Morente said.

BI record showed that Lee has been hiding in the Philippines since May 2019. The Suwon district court in South Korea issued an arrest warrant against Lee last year for illegal trading of psychotropic drugs.

Sim, on the other hand, has a pending warrant for fraud issued by the Cheongju district court in 2017. He has been hiding in the Philippines since 2016. His name was added in the Interpol’s red list in June 2019.

Sim is also said to be a member of a telephone fraud syndicate that operated from January to September 2015 in Qingdao, China.
