Government troopers clash with private armed group in Samar

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines — Police and military personnel clashed with suspected members of a private armed group in Barangay Langoyon in Calbayog City on Tuesday.

There was no reported casualty on both sides, according to a report by 1st Lt. Benigno Lopez Jr., civil-military officer of the 43rd Infantry Battalion.

The report said government troopers were about to serve an arrest warrant for a certain Joanne de Alagdon when they were shot.

Alagdon, who was charged with murder, escaped from the Samar sub-provincial jail.
