PNP orders probe on grenade attacks
MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Police District has been ordered to conduct a thorough investigation into the foiled grenade attacks on a cockfight arena in Sta. Ana, Manila.
Police reported on Friday that a grenade was found on the premises of the Manila Arena, which was being used for cockfights.
Prior to this, a security guard saw motorcycle-riding suspects hurl a grenade at the cockpit arena.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said they found the successive incidents suspicious.
“Probers are also looking into the disappearance of several people who were last seen in the arena,” Carlos said in a statement.
Investigators said they would coordinate with barangay officials to track down the suspects using closed-circuit television footage.
