6 dead in Iloilo, Pangasinan road mishaps
MANILA, Philippines — Six persons died in road accidents in San Joaquin, Iloilo and Pozzorubio, Pangasinan on Tuesday.
Police said Philip Amores, 43; Gilbert Babas and Nomeriano Baroa, driver of a six-wheeler Fuso Canter, died when the vehicle crashed into a dump truck in San Joaquin.
Town police chief Lt. Dionisio Estacio said Amores and Baroa were declared dead on arrival at the San Joaquin Mother and Child Hospital, where Babas died while being treated.
Initial investigation showed the accident occurred at a road curve in Barangay Lopez Vito around 5:38 a.m.
Four other passengers were injured. They said the truck was speeding downhill when it rear-ended the dump truck.
The driver of the dump truck, Ricky Ningas, 42, was taken into police custody.
In Pangasinan, Jermaine Alcantara, 36, driver of a Honda Civic with license plate UKD 783, and his passengers Patrick Cholo Aquino, 32, and Heinrich Viray, 36, died when their vehicle rammed an electric post in Barangay Alipangpang.
Their companion Albert Basada, 37, was seriously injured.
The victims were allegedly drunk.
