Cop, brod held for murder in Albay

MANILA, Philippines — A policeman and his brother were arrested for allegedly killing a barangay councilman and an Indian citizen in Oas, Abay on Friday.

Bicol police director Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo identified the suspects as Cpl. Bryan Aguilar of the Polangui police and his half-brother Raymond Isaac Salanga.

Killed were Marlon Rebusquillo, 43, kagawad of Barangay Maporong, and Parmindes Singh, a resident of Barangay Gabon in Polangui.

Initial investigation showed the suspects kidnapped Singh at around 9 a.m., but the vehicle they used fell into a rice field in Barangay Maporong.

A witness told probers Aguilar shot Rebusquillo, who was present at the scene of the accident, while the barangay official was parking his motorcycle.

The policeman also reportedly shot Singh.
