MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has appointed Oscar Casaysay as executive director of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

Acting presidential spokesman Karlo Nograles confirmed yesterday Casaysay’s appointment.

“We wish him all the best in his new undertaking as he leads the NCCA in the preservation, development and promotion of Philippine arts and culture,” Nograles said in a statement.

Based on reports, Casaysay was a former public information officer of Davao Occidental.

Casaysay replaced Al Ryan Alejandre as NCCA chief.

The NCCA is tasked to administer the National Endowment Fund for Culture and the Arts, the funding exclusively for the implementation of culture and arts programs in the country.
