Navotas mayor tests positive for COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Another mayor in Metro Manila has contracted COVID-19.

Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco announced on Sunday that he tested positive for the virus.

Tiangco, who is asthmatic, said he underwent reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction or RT-PCR test after his antigen test came back positive.

“My RT-PCR test also yielded a positive result,” he said.

Tiangco said he would continue to discharge his responsibilities as mayor while undergoing quarantine for two weeks.

He asked people who have come into close contact with him to self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19.

Pasay Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano tested positive for COVID on Sunday.
