Go aids fire victims in Mandaluyong
MANILA, Philippines — Following his announced withdrawal from the presidential race, Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go continued to help victims of fire and other natural calamities as he vowed to provide assistance to the poor.
On Wednesday, Go visited families affected by a fire that struck Barangay Barangka Drive on Nov. 20.
Go’s office organized a relief operation at the Bonifacio Javier National High School where he and his staff distributed financial aid, food packs, vitamins and face masks to a total of 105 families.
Select beneficiaries were given shoes, bicycles and computer tablets for distance learning.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development also extended cash assistance to the fire victims. The Department of Agriculture offered the residents zero-interest loans under its Agri-Negosyo program.
Go, who chairs the Senate committee on health, encouraged residents to take precautions against COVID-19.
He urged them to get vaccinated to protect themselves from the virus as more cases of Omicron variant are being detected in other countries.
Go was joined during the event by Mandaluyong Rep. Neptali Gonzales II, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benhur Abalos, Mayor Carmelita Abalos, Councilor Benjamin Abalos III as well as senatorial bets former Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission chief Greco Belgica, Robin Padilla and Rey Langit.
