MANILA, Philippines — At least 16.05 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with a street value of P109.14 million have been confiscated in separate stings in Taguig and Caloocan since Thursday.

In Taguig, anti-narcotics police officers seized eight kilos of shabu valued at P54.4 million from suspected pushers Marisa Asi, 34, and Muslimin Kamid, 32, in Barangay Maharlika on Thursday night, according to National Capital Region Police Office director Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr.

The two suspects allegedly sold 25 grams of shabu to policemen posing as drug buyers for P170,000.

Another drug bust led to the confiscation of 8.05 kilos of shabu with a street value of P54.7 million in a motel in Barangay 136, Caloocan at past midnight yesterday.

The drugs, which were placed in Chinese tea bags, were seized from Ali Usman, 38, and Von Emil Flores, 37, whom Danao said are considered high-value targets.

Danao said the two admitted the illegal drugs came from Taguig. An investigation is ongoing to determine if the four suspects belong to one group.

The suspects are being held on charges of drug trafficking. – Ghio Ong
