Zamboanga resident gets 2 COVID-19 shots in one day

Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — The city health office (CHO) is investigating the case of a 42-year-old laborer who reportedly received two doses of different brands of COVID vaccine within minutes on Tuesday.

Dulce Amor Miravite, CHO chief, confirmed the incident, which occured in Sitio Susuna in Barangay La Paz, saying the mother of the laborer asked them if it is safe to receive two doses in one day.

The man presented his vaccination card, which showed that he received AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines, both dated Nov. 16.

He said he was first inoculated on his right arm.

While staying in the observation area, he said he got another shot on his left arm.

He said the vaccinator wrote in his vaccination card that he had taken his second dose. The man showed his arms, both with adhesive bandage, to prove that he was vaccinated twice.

“We are doing fact-finding. It could be due to misunderstanding which led to providing the second dose since the areas of the first and second dose rollouts were separated,” Miravite said.

She said the man did not manifest any adverse effect.
