ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — The military said the strength of the Abu Sayyaf has continued to diminish with the surrender of more of its members.

Thirteen Abu Sayyaf bandits, who surrendered in Patikul, Sulu on Monday, turned over 14 firearms to the 1103rd Infantry Brigade headquarters in Barangay Bon-Bon, according to brigade commander Brig. Gen. Benjamin Batara.

Batara said 10 M1 Garand rifles, two M16 rifles, an M79 grenade launcher with a round of ammunition and a 9mm pistol were turned over by the surrenderees.

Last week, five Abu Sayyaf bandits who surrendered also turned over their guns.
