Las Piñas to achieve herd immunity vs COVID-19

Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Las Piñas has vaccinated almost 100 percent of its target population to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19.

The local government reported on Monday that 99.9 percent or 447,086 residents received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccines while 90.6 percent are fully inoculated.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said 95 percent of the city’s elderly residents or those under the A2 category and economic frontliners have been fully vaccinated.

Given the city’s rate of vaccination, Aguilar said Las Piñas would be able to achieve herd immunity within weeks.

She said the city government would continue its vaccination program until all qualified residents are inoculated.
