Policewoman dies of COVID-19

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — A policewoman who contracted COVID died in a hospital in Nueva Ecija on Sunday.

Cpl. Irene Maure, 30, of the Maria Aurora police station, was taken to the Aurora Memorial Hospital on Oct. 8 after she experienced difficulty in breathing.

Maure, who was six months pregnant, underwent an antigen test, which showed she contracted the virus.

Due to her delicate condition, Maure was transferred to the Dr. Gloria Lacson General Hospital in San Leonardo town on Oct. 10.

On the same day, she underwent a ceasarian operation, but her baby survived for only two hours.

On Oct. 12, Maure underwent RT-PCR or reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test. She died four days later.
