Poll exec, daughter wounded in Basilan gun attack
MANILA, Philippines — An election officer and his daughter were wounded when unidentified men strafed their car with bullets in Isabela, Basilan on Monday night.
Aknam Hashim, 49, election officer of Maluso town, and Marwa Alih, 20, were in a Mitsubishi Adventure when the shooting occurred along Rizal Avenue, a few meters away from the police station.
Responding police and military personnel brought the victims to the Basilan Community Hospital for treatment.
Police said they are looking at various angles, including Hashim’s work, as the motive for the gun attack. – John Unson
