Quezon City, UP boost pandemic response

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has partnered with the University of the Philippines (UP) Pandemic Response Team to strengthen the local government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

UP and Unexus Medical Solutions Inc. committed to support the city epidemiology and surveillance unit (CESU) in establishing an end-to-end COVID-19 testing and contact tracing platform to further improve efforts in minimizing transmission.

“During this pandemic, we need all the help we can get,” said Mayor Joy Belmonte.

CESU chief Rolly Cruz said data gathered using the platform, together with the current surveillance testing initiatives, will help the local policy decision-making such as in implementing granular lockdowns.
