7 QCPD officials axed over illegal gambling
MANILA, Philippines — Two police station chiefs and seven precinct commanders in Quezon City have been relieved from their posts due to alleged rampant illegal gambling operations in their areas.
Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra reiterated the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s one-strike policy against QCPD commanders who failed to stop illegal gambling in their jurisdiction.
Yarra vowed to intensify the campaign against all forms of illegal gambling in the city.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. reiterated the PNP’s rule of “immediate relief without a room for bargaining” when it comes to illegal gambling.
“We will strictly enforce the no-take policy from gambling operators and other illegal sources. Police officers who will violate this policy will be dealt with (using) the full force of the law,” Danao said in a statement.
The QCPD said 29 illegal gambling suspects have been arrested in the city since Tuesday.
