4 families left homeless in Makati fire

MANILA, Philippines — Four families consisting of 18 individuals lost their homes in a fire that broke out in Barangay Guadalupe Viejo, Makati on Friday afternoon.

The fire started in a vacant second-floor room of Carmen Yulo’s house on Adalla street in Palm Village before 4:30 p.m., the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.

The flames spread to three other houses and destroyed around P1.2 million worth of property before it was put out at around 5:24 p.m.

The cause of the second-alarm fire has yet to be determined. At least 39 firetruck crews – 19 from the BFP and 20 from volunteer groups – rushed to the scene.
