Duterte extends Boracay task force

Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte signed yesterday an executive order (EO)extending the term of the Boracay Inter-agency Task Force.

Duterte’s EO 147 allows the task force to continue its mandate “to ensure completion of the remaining milestones of the Boracay Action Plan until 2022.”

It said the COVID-19 pandemic and community quarantine measures have resulted in unprecedented delays and massive disruption on the implementation of critical programs and projects based on the key thematic areas of the Boracay Action Plan.

”The task force shall be deemed dissolved on June 30, 2022, unless extended or sooner terminated by the President,” the EO read.

Duterte created the task force led by Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu in May 2018 to formulate an action plan to reverse the degradation of the world-renowned island resort.
