Pasig city hall offices under lockdown

MANILA, Philippines — Several offices at the Pasig city hall have been placed on lockdown after employees tested positive for COVID-19, Mayor Vico Sotto announced yesterday.

The local government said two personnel of the city administrator’s office tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, prompting the office’s lockdown until Sept. 15.

Sotto said the city epidemiology and surveillance unit ordered a number of infected employees and their close contacts to undergo quarantine.

The measure forced some offices that are already implementing alternative work arrangement to adjust schedules and accommodate the workload of the isolated personnel to ensure the delivery of services to the public.

In Caloocan, eight streets in two barangays were put on granular lockdown due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases, Mayor Oscar Malapitan said yesterday.

Areas in Barangay 123 bound by 5th, Magsaysay, B Serrano and 6th streets will be on lockdown until Sept. 9.

Six cases of COVID-19 were recorded in these areas, affecting 119 close contacts from 27 families.

Panay, Guinugitan, Masbate and Victoria streets at H. Dela Costa Homes in Barangay 179 were shut down for one week due to 16 active cases of COVID-19, affecting 103 close contacts.
