MANILA, Philippines — Employees who will work today, National Heroes Day, are entitled to receive holiday pay as mandated by law, according to the Department of Labor and Employment.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello said companies are required to give workers holiday and overtime pay despite the imposition of community quarantine due to the pandemic.

National Heroes Day has been declared a regular holiday.

Under the Labor Code, Bello said employees who work today would receive double pay.

Services rendered beyond eight hours will be paid an additional 30 percent of hourly rate.

Employees who will work on their rest day will be paid an additional 30 percent on top of the 200 percent holiday pay.
