Cab driver torched

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — Unidentified men torched a taxicab with the driver on board, killing the victim in Barangay Mahay, Butuan City yesterday.

Probers found the body of Julius Azura, 42, in the M Lhuillier Taxi parked along the road in Purok 16 at past midnight, according to city police station 1 chief Maj. Riza Torotoro.

Police said the suspects poured gasoline into the cab and set it on fire.

The victim’s partially burned wallet containing cash and phone were recovered at the crime scene.

Authorities have yet to identify the suspects and determine the motive for the killing.
