San Juan inoculates 91% of target population

MANILA, Philippines — San Juan City is less than 8,000 doses away from achieving herd immunity against COVID-19, Mayor Francis Zamora said on Wednesday.

Zamora said 84,806 residents have received their second dose of COVID-19 vaccines.

The city government needs to fully vaccinate 7,953 residents to achieve herd immunity. San Juan is targeting to inoculate 70 percent of its total population of 132,512 before the month ends.

“This is equivalent to just nine percent away from herd immunity. We have fully vaccinated 91 percent of our target population,” Zamora said in an interview on ANC.

Zamora led the vaccination of bedridden residents in Barangay Batis using the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines on Wednesday.
