MWSS: No water disconnections
MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) has ordered Maynilad Water Services Inc. and Manila Water to suspend disconnection activities during the enhanced community quarantine or ECQ.
MWSS chief regulator Patrick Lester Ty directed the water concessionaires to suspend disconnections, whether temporary or permanent, and to ensure water supply availability within their service areas.
The government has placed the National Capital Region under ECQ starting today until Aug. 20 to contain the spread of COVID-19.
“We appeal to local government units in Metro Manila, Cavite and Rizal to allow personnel of the water concessionaires to continue their on-site water meter reading and billing operations during the ECQ,” Ty said.
