MANILA, Philippines — National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. yesterday appealed to NCR residents vacationing in the provinces to go home ahead of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) on Friday.

Danao said police would enforce stricter border control measures from Aug. 6 to 20.

“Dapat makabalik na sila by Aug. 5 dahil the next day magkakaroon na tayo ng stricter travel restrictions,” Danao said in an interview on dzBB. “Those returning to Manila might have difficulty passing through the quarantine checkpoints.”

Danao advised those planning to go on vacation outside Metro Manila during the two-week lockdown to cancel their schedules.

He said families, including children, would be allowed to pass police checkpoints set up in the borders of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal until Thursday.

Under ECQ guidelines, persons aged 18 to 59 will be allowed outdoors for work, hospitalization and other essential activities.

Danao said only authorized persons outside of residence, including overseas Filipino workers and frontliners would be allowed to enter Metro Manila during the ECQ.
