MANILA, Philippines — Thirteen more people from Mandaluyong who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 were still infected with the virus, the city government said yesterday.

The 13 were among the 37 new cases recorded on Friday night, Mayor Carmelita Abalos said in a Facebook post.

Eight are fully vaccinated while five had their first dose of COVID-19 jabs. The other 24 new cases, meanwhile, are unvaccinated.

The city government did not say what vaccine brands were used on the persons who still contracted COVID-19.

City public information officer Jimmy Isidro said the people who have been vaccinated are asymptomatic or only have mild symptoms and are protected from being severely ill.

Isidro said Abalos decided to release the data to show that the vaccines acquired by the government are effective.

There are 227 active cases in Mandaluyong. The barangays with the most number of cases are Barangka Ilaya with 48, Highway Hills with 37 and Hulo with 23.
