25 nabbed, 95 loose guns seized in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — Twenty five persons were arrested and 95 unlicensed guns were confiscated in simultaneous police operations in Caraga on Friday.

Regional police director Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr. said the arrests were based on search warrants issued by local courts as part of the campaign against loose firearms and ensure the holding of orderly and peaceful elections next year.

Caramat said 24 caliber .45 pistols, nine 9mm pistols, 13 shotguns, four caliber .22 rifles, 42 caliber .22 pistols and an M30 rifle were seized.

The suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
