P9.4 million marijuana, guns seized in Sulu

Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Security forces destroyed P9.4 million worth of fully grown marijuana and dried leaves in a raid on a plantation in Barangay Lingah in Luuk, Sulu over the weekend.

Maj. Gen. William Gonzales, Joint Task Force Sulu and 11th Infantry Division commander, said authorities also recovered firearms during a clearing operation at a nearby house, but failed to arrest its owner identified only as Bakil.

He said two Garand rifles, an M14 and a carbine rifle were seized.

“This drug personality is without doubt a dangerous individual. We will not allow this kind of person to threaten the generally peaceful municipality of Luuk,” he said.

Gonzales said a manhunt for the suspect was launched.
