2 cops face raps for killing fisherman

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — Two members of the Agusan del Norte police were charged with murder on Tuesday in connection with the killing of a fisherman off the coast of Barangay Calibunan in Cabadbaran City on Saturday.

Senior M/ Sgt. Rizyl Torricer and Pat. Ariel Jay Panes were accused of shooting a group of fishermen suspected to be involved in illegal fishing following a confrontation.

Ikiel Kintanar was hit in the chest and declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Caraga police director Brig. Gen Romeo Caramat has assured the victim’s family of speedy justice.
