DPWH to hire more personnel – Villar
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways will be hiring additional manpower to fast-track dredging activities nationwide, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar announced yesterday.
Villar said at least P70 million was allocated per region for the procurement of state-of-the-art dredging equipment, thus the need for more operators.
“Additional equipment and manpower will augment our dredging operations to address flooding in high-risk areas,” Villar said. “Dredging allows us to excavate heavily silted bodies of water, which overflow during the rainy season.”
Villar said the DPWH is currently undertaking dredging activities in Pasig River, Cagayan River and Bicol River in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
