Bulacan mayor catches COVID-19 for second time

MALOLOS, Philippines — A municipal mayor in Bulacan has tested positive for COVID for the second time.

Mayor Carla Galvez-Tan of San Ildefonso town yesterday confirmed in a post on social media that she contracted COVID again.

“Shocked, crying, sad and frustrated kase ako na naman ba, kase after three months ‘hit me baby one more time’ na naman ang kanta ko kay COVID,” Tan’s post read.

“After being so careful and health conscious dahil ayoko na maospital kase ang hirap, my immune system gave up on me again,” she added.

Tan appealed to those she had come in contact with since Wednesday to isolate themselves.

Darwin David, chief of Bulacan’s interior and local government department, confirmed to The STAR that Tan is asymptomatic.

The municipal disaster risk reduction management office of San Ildefonso said it did not receive any order to temporarily shut down the municipal building.

It said the municipal government regularly conducts sanitation and disinfection every Wednesday and Sunday.
