3 cities reach full ICU utilization rates

MANILA, Philippines — There are no more vacancies in the intensive care units (ICUs) for COVID cases in hospitals in Bacoor, Cavite; Koronadal in Cotabato and Iloilo City, according to the latest report on COVID of the OCTA group of researchers.

The group said Davao City has a critical ICU utilization rate (ICUR) of 95 percent; Cotabato City, 94 percent, and Tuguegarao in Luzon, 98 percent.

Also with high ICUR are General Santos City in Mindanao and San Pablo City in Laguna, both with 86 percent, and Tagum City in Davao region and Naga City in Bicol, both 85 percent.

The ICUR numbers were posted in OCTA’s Philippine COVID-19 Update report issued yesterday.

The report covered the period from June 13 to 19.

Most of the cities with high ICUR were also included among areas of concern identified in the OCTA report last week.

These cities were Bacolod, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Polomolok, Tacloban and Tuguegarao.

The cities of San Pablo, Cebu and Baguio were identified as areas with significant increases in new COVID cases in OCTA’s report last week.
