MANILA, Philippines — Some roads in Manila would be closed to vehicular traffic today for national hero Dr. Jose Rizal’s 160th birth anniversary, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday.

Both lanes of Roxas Boulevard, from Katigbak Drive to T.M. Kalaw street, would be closed to traffic starting at 6 a.m.

The actual closure and reopening of affected roads would be based on the traffic situation, the MMDA said.

Motorists driving light vehicles coming from Bonifacio Drive should turn left on P. Burgos street and right on Ma. Orosa to their destination, according to the MMDA.

Drivers of trailer trucks and heavy vehicles coming from Delpan Bridge-Pier Zone would be detoured to P. Burgos, straight to Finance Road-Ayala Avenue, then right to San Marcelino to their destination.

Motorists with light vehicles traveling north along Roxas Boulevard would be rerouted to T.M. Kalaw street then left to Ma. Orosa to their destination.

Drivers of trailer trucks and heavy vehicles from P. Ocampo street should turn right on Quirino Avenue to Plaza Dilao to their destination.

All motorists from McArthur, Jones and Quezon Bridges planning to go through Roxas Boulevard’s southbound lane from P. Burgos street should use the Round Table and proceed to Ma. Orosa or use Taft Avenue to get to their destination.
