2 soldiers killed in Agusan Norte NPA attacks

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Two soldiers were killed in an encounter with New People’s Army rebels and a bomb attack in Santiago, Agusan del Norte on Thursday.

A belated military report said Pfc. Glory Sagod was killed in the clash.

Lt. Gilo Lauringuez of the 29the Infantry Battalion said government troopers were on their way to reinforce Army soldiers who encountered members of the Guerilla Front 16 of the Northeastern Mindanao Regional Command when the clash occurred.

Sgt. Van Tadlas was killed and four others were wounded when an improvised explosive device planted by the rebels went off.
