San Juan’s active cases down to 88

MANILA, Philippines — From over a thousand cases two months ago, the number of active COVID-19 cases in San Juan is down to 88 as of
yesterday, Mayor Francis Zamora said.

The number is 93.20 percent lower compared to 1,296 active COVID-19 cases last April 12, the highest recorded in the city when
Metro Manila experienced a surge in infections.

Zamora attributed the drop to the concerted efforts of residents to follow health protocols and the city government’s intensified vaccination program.

He said at least 33,736 residents and workers have been vaccinated against COVID-19, representing 40 percent of the 85,400 people San Juan is targeting to achieve herd immunity.

Zamora led the awarding of the national government’s Safety Seal certification program to establishments at the V-Mall in Greenhills Shopping Center yesterday for complying with health protocols.
