Quakes jolt Davao, Zambales
MANILA, Philippines — Earthquakes of magnitudes-5.6 and 5.2 shook the provinces of Davao Occidental and Zambales, respectively, yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said there were no reports of damage or injuries from the quakes, but it warned of possible aftershocks.
The magnitude-5.6 quake occurred at 10:02 a.m., with its epicenter located 258 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.
The quake was felt at Intensity 2 in General Santos City.
Instrumental Intensity 1 was recorded in Kiamba, Sarangani.
Meanwhile, the magnitude-5.2 quake occurred 94 km southwest of San Antonio in Zambales at 12:41 p.m.
The quake was felt at Intensity 1 in Quezon City.
Instrumental Intensity 1 was recorded in Marikina and Olongapo.
Instrumental intensity refers to the ground shaking as detected by seismic instruments.
