Taguig rolls out vaccination buses

Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Taguig City government has deployed buses to bring COVID-19 vaccines to residents of communities that are far from vaccination centers.

A vaccination bus brought AstraZeneca vaccines, donated by the COVAX Facility, to the Pusawan covered court in Barangay Ususan last Thursday, the city government said yesterday.

Medical workers manning the vaccination bus can inoculate up to 200 people a day and would stay at a location for two to three days, it said.

Counseling and vaccination are done in the buses while other processes such as registration, screening and post-vaccination monitoring are held outside.

The vaccination bus is an addition to the city government’s COVID-19 vaccination facilities, which include the Lakeshore Hall, malls and schools.

Out of the 650,000 city residents said to be eligible for vaccination, more than eight percent or 54,287 people – health workers, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities – were inoculated with Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V or Pfizer vaccines.
