Quakes hit Ilocos, Caraga
MANILA, Philippines — Earthquakes struck parts of Ilocos Norte and Caraga region yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said a magnitude 4.4 tremor occurred at around 1 a.m., with its epicenter traced 21 kilometers northeast of Sta. Monica, Surigao del Norte.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4 or moderately strong in Sta. Monica and Intensity 3 in Burgos and San Francisco towns. It was felt at Intensity 2 in Surigao City, San Isidro and Gigaquit, also in Surigao del Norte, and Cagdiano and San Jose on Dinagat Islands.
In Ilocos Norte, a magnitude 4 quake struck 11 kms northeast of Nueva Era town at about 3:22 a.m.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Nueva Era, Batac, Paoay, Currimao, Dingras, Marcos, Banna, Laoag, San Nicolas, Pinili and Badoc and Intensity 2 in Pasuquin.
