Quezon PNP personnel dies of COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — A 48-year-old non-uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) died of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said yesterday the patient, who is assigned in Quezon province, was confined in a hospital on May 6 due to fever and dry cough.

Sixty PNP personnel have died after contracting the virus since last year, 30 of them since last January.

The PNP recorded 95 new cases yesterday, bringing the total number of active cases in the police force to 1,436.

Since last year, 21,416 PNP members have contracted the virus. At least 19,920 or 93.01 of the patients have recovered.
