Lawmaker, wife catch COVID-19
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Rep. Rolando Uy of the first district of Cagayan de Oro and his village chief wife Lorna were hospitalized after they tested positive for COVID.
Uy announced his and his wife’s medical conditions on social media after rumors spread that his family including his mayor son had contracted the virus.
“We are in good condition right now and we hope to recover from this disease. I am worried for my wife who has previous medical condition,” Uy said in a statement.
He said he instructed his staff as well as the barangay employees to isolate and monitor themselves.
“We are reiterating our call to the Kagayanons and Misamisnons to cooperate with the government to keep their selves and their families safe from COVID,” he said.
