Go helps Biliran patient needing surgery

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go has commended the doctors and medical staff at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) for the successful surgery and recovery of a patient, who was suffering from a rare skin condition.

Ribby Ringo Jimenez of Naval, Biliran was born with a skin tag on the head.

After a video of her condition went viral on social media, Go – through Rep. Gerry Espina - offered to help Jimenez undergo surgery and referred her to the PGH.

In a personal message, Go conveyed his joy and wished Jimenez full recovery.

“Ribby, you showed exceptional strength in facing this trial. Your journey serves as an inspiration, not only to people suffering from the same medical condition, but also to all Filipinos during this time of uncertainty,” said Go.

“May you take this opportunity to be strong, healthy and happy, and to make happy memories with your family,” he added.

Go supported Jimenez throughout her stay at the PGH, paying for the costs of her medicine, medical supplies, food and transportation.

The Office of the President provided separate assistance to ensure Jimenez’s full recovery.

Jimenez’s partner Florencio dela Peña Jr. thanked Go and all those who helped her get treatment.

Jimenez’s family was able to obtain government assistance from the Malasakit Center located at the PGH.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop that brought together government agencies – Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corp. and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office – that extend medical assistance for the poor.
