MANILA, Philippines — At least 73 abandoned senior citizens in Valenzuela were inoculated with Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine, Mayor Rex Gatchalian said yesterday.

Gatchalian said the senior citizens, who are residing at the city-run elderly home Bahay Kalinga, need to be vaccinated before they are moved to a new facility.

“Before they move to their new home (Bahay Kanlungan) come month’s end, we want to make sure they are all vaccinated,” Gatchalian said on Facebook.

“It’s the best way to protect the entire community,” he added.

The Valenzuela mayor also received his second dose of Sinovac vaccine yesterday.

Meanwhile, 62 medical frontliners in Sta. Ana Hospital and 72 in Ospital ng Maynila received their first dose of Sputnik V vaccines yesterday noon, according to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.

The city received 3,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccines, enough to give jabs to 3,000 medical frontliners in the six district hospitals and other national government hospitals, according to Manila city health officer Dr. Arnold Pangan.
