Mother, daughter die in Manila fire
MANILA, Philippines — A mother and her six-year-old daughter were killed when they were trapped in their burning house in Sta. Cruz, Manila yesterday morning.
Arson probers recovered the bodies of Frencelyn de Leon and her daughter.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, the blaze started at past 6 a.m. and was put out after an hour.
De Leon’s partner, Jonel Mandap, was taken to the hospital for treatment of second degree burns.
Damage to property was estimated at P100,000.
On Tuesday, a three-year-old girl died when a fire razed their house in Tondo.
In Muntinlupa, at least 200 families were displaced by a fire that raged for more than four hours yesterday.
The fire broke out at the Aquino Damaso Compound in Purok 2, PNR Site, Barangay Cupang.
Some 50 houses made of light construction materials were destroyed in the fire.
A total of 79 firetrucks from the city government and volunteer fire brigades responded to contain the blaze.
No one was reported injured.
The city government provided meals and hygiene kits to the affected residents, who are staying at a covered court in the barangay.
